Greenovia aurea is a perennial succulent plant with rose-shaped rosettes and deep yellow flowers in spring. Aeonium aureum (as it is also known) forms a hibernation stage in summer, with the younger leaves forming a dense, narrow cylinder, while the older leaves wither but are still attached to the rosette, further protecting it from drought.
It is cultivated by succulent enthusiasts and is the most cultivated Greenovia for its beauty, this species tends to be quite variable, sometimes creating several side shoots forming a sort of ‘bouquet’.
