Astrophytum asterias ‘Super Kabuto’ is one of the most popular cacti and is easily distinguished from normal Astrophytum asterias by its epidermis, which doesn’t have simple dots, but a mosaic of extensive white spots that give the plant a unique appearance.
The “Superkabuto” probably originated from a mutation of an A. Asterias , found in 1981 by the Japanese Mr. Masaomi Takeo.
