Importing succulents from Korea is no longer a new phenomenon, but we have seen some growth in demand for this type of succulent and for this reason we decided to write a little about it.
Generally speaking, South Korea is a little more developed in the production of succulents than most European countries, which is why a lot of hybrids, especially echeverias, come from there. Some of these hybrids are already widespread here and can be found quite easily.
Hybrids are nothing more than the crossing of different species, something that we too have been doing for a long time. This whole process is very slow until we manage to propagate enough plants to launch on the market, something that we will already be doing with some hybrids during the next years.
What sometimes surprises us is that we see hybrids for sale at disproportionate prices. In fact, everyone is free to buy the plants they like and we don’t see anything wrong with that. But what we have noticed is that there are situations in which the values are inflated by putting “import from Korea” in the description of these plants, regardless of whether they are rare and/or recent hybrids or not…. There are already several hybrids from Korea on our website, including Echeveria Agavoides Salmon, Pink Ruby, Vienna, Amistar, Nanahukumini, Luella and others. For this reason, and to help with identification, we will now include a description of these plants: Import/Hybrid from Korea or Korean SucculentsBut it won’t be a reason to increase their value.
