Lophophora williamsii, popularly known as peyote or mescal is a small thornless cactus, peyote is a Spanish word derived from Nahuatl, or Aztec, peyōtl [ˈpejoːt͡ɬ] and means “shining” or “shining”.
It is found mainly in the Chihuahua Desert and in the Mexican states of Coahuila, New León, Tamaulipas and San Luis Potosí among the shrubs.
