Crassula perfoliata var.
falcata (The ‘Propeller Plant’ or ‘Airplane Plant’) produces a lovely low-growing shrub, which usually grows less than 60 cm tall (but some sources say it can go up to 1m tall).
It has very peculiar grayish-green sickle-shaped leaves, arranged in overlapping pairs along a generally unbranched stem.
Small scarlet-red flowers are gathered in dense, showy clusters that rise above the foliage in midsummer.
The flowers open slowly and last for almost a month when in full bloom.
Another common name used for this plant is Scarlet Paintbrush, referring to its beautiful flowers. See our comparison of the size of pots we usually use and tips for caring for succulents and cacti here !
